Triptychs: Technology and Human Identity

This mixed-medium project consists of three works that are each a set of triptychs. They are titled: The Bride; Pascal and the Wilderness: Tree of Life and Tree of Death; and Angels and Bride Series I, II and Pascal. The triptych was a popular form during the time of early Christian art. Eisert Hall juxtaposed a past art form and iconography with technological materials that come from the present. By doing so, she points to technological change that has taken place through time. In this project she wanted to bring science, religion, and technology together to build a multi-disciplinary perspective of her theme.

This project emphasized Eisert Hall's concern about the ever-escalating destructive capabilities of weapons of war. She invoked imagery from science to point towards the evolution of technology. Religious iconography was used to include the contradictions of human world views with human action in that views of peace can run alongside views that promote violence and war. This project was shown at The Works Festival in Edmonton; and at The Southern Alberta Art Gallery.
